This morning Avery comes in my room and says to me, "Mom, when can we get a pig?" What??
Most kids want a dog, cat, fish, etc. but my kid wants a pig because pigs are so "cute" he says. Wow. It's actually not a bad idea--if you live on a farm. I'll get right on that.
Some people swear by potbelly pigs as pets, that they're more sanitary and smarter than dogs. And they have the mini kind that can stay indoors... plus, you have a fenced backyard.
Danielle and Norman have a pet pig - do you read their blog? He lived inside most of the winter, but is now an outside pet. (Of course, they have a bit of land in Utah, but. . .he's penned in, so it' snot like he needs a ton of room!) He's cute. Talk to her about it! That's funny though - when can we get a pig? not, can I get a pig. Sounds to me like it's already decided.
I had to laugh when I saw this because my nephew said that to my mother-in-law for years and she lives on a farm so she did get him a pig. They are hard work and once they get past the cute piglet stage, they are big, ugly, gross and mean! They plowed through her fences, garden, yard, etc. numerous times and would fight off the dogs for their dog food! Crazy, huh? But they tasted good when they got made into their names "Pork Chop" and "Bacon."

C'mon, Mom. You're no fun. ;)

You're TOTALLY out of excuses, my friend.
You know, you might have a point there. It actually sounds kind of fun. Can you imagine the looks at the park when we take it for a walk? Ha ha :-)
